Rig Magic was set up in the year 2000 by Nigel Theadom, a big name in the rigging industry. For more than 20 years Nigel had worked in and around the marine environment developing, building, supplying and fitting rigs from dinghies to big yachts circling the globe.

He has developed and produced rigging solutions for single handed round-the-world yachts, arctic explorers, bluewater cruisers, tradewind travellers, and countless cruising and racing yachtsfolk enjoying more localwaters.

Rig Magic complements the collection of experts based at Suffolk Yacht Harbour who between them offer a service not found anywhere else on the east coast. Before setting up shop at Suffolk Yacht Harbour, Nigel had developed rigging shops for other big names in the marine industry such as Oyster Marine.

A winner of numerous regattas, series and campaigns, Nigel knows his business through and through. And with engineer, Jonny Ratcliffe and technician, Sam Smith, there is nothing they collectively cannot sort on your rig. They also workvery closely with Quantum Sails next door to develop and produce sail handling systems not found elsewhere in the UK.

Jonny is the calibre of race crew that most skippers would queue for. His distaste ofinnefficient rig and control systems comes from 20 years of precision engineering and programming the most sophisticated computer-controlled machinery. There are no half measures with Jonny. Only right or wrong.

Sam, too, is following in the footsteps of Nigel and Jonny, learning from the experts. Since joining RigMagic in 2002, Sam has made a great impact on the company's efficiency and versatility. He is a top class technician with an ability to identify problems quickly and implement corrective measures with skill and integrity.

Sam and Jonny at work on the deck layout of a very beautiful 46-footer. Rig Magic supplied and installed the white painted carbon mast and boom. Our portfolio of classic yacht rigs grows significantly with each season. A reminder that we don’t just work on ‘plastic fantastic.’

Below that Jonny crews on his B14 which he shipped out to Tasmania to take part in the B14 worlds in January.

On the left is Nigel holding the overall Cowes Week black group trophy. And below that is Sam in action on the foredeck of Crikey.
